Jamia’s Department of Economics celebrated its annual academic cultural event

The Department of Economics, Jamia millia Islamia (JMI) celebrated its annual academic and cultural event known as Ecocracy at the Centre for Information Technology (CIT) HallThe two-day event which started Wednesday had academic, cultural and entertainment content. Research paper presentation, Treasure Hunt, Art, Photography, Chess, Pictionary, Carrom, Quiz, Open Mic, Extempore, and Skit Play were some of the attractions of the fest. A debate competition on “Edutech Startups” had more than 25 teams from JMI, Delhi University and Indian Institute of Mass Communications which were judged by eminent and ex- national level debaters from Jamia. An Economic Policy Case Competition on “Digital Financial Inclusion” was also organised.The festival witnessed a participation of more than 250 students and faculty members across various Departments and Centres in JMI and outside. Prof. Halima Sadia Rizvi, Prof. Shahid Ahmed, Prof. B Srinivasu, Prof Moonis Shakeel, Prof. Nanadan Nawn, Dr. Saba Ismail, Dr. Vasim Akram, Dr Zahid Siddique and Dr. Shadab of the department judged various events of Ecocracy 2023.The event came to an end with a Valedictory function held at the CIT Hall of the university. Shri Javed Alam Khan, CEO, Delhi State Haj Committee, Government of NCT of Delhi was the Chief Guest.In his address Prof. Asheref Illiyan, HoD, Economics congratulated class representatives, Anam Firdous, Vice President and Hanan Musheer, General Secretary of Economics Subject Association, GAEE (Global Association of Economic Education) and Mashiyat Network for successful organisation of Ecocracy 2023.
