NASHIK: The disgruntlement of rebel Shiv Sena MLAs about not getting funds for their constituencies and work has found resonance among a section of the state Congress legislators. “Like their Shiv Sena counterparts, some Congress MLAs have been demanding quicker disbursement of funds from the finance department which is with the NCP. But unlike Sena MLAs, our party legislators have not rebelled,” said a senior Congress leader. One Congress MLA of North Maharashtra, however, said that he did not have problems in getting funds for his constituency. “It all depends on how meticulously we plan the project for the finance department to approve. If the project plan is presented properly, the finance department promptly approves it,” added that MLA. Other Congress leaders also claimed that so far there is no indication that any of its 44 MLAs would rebel and join hands with the dissident Sena leader, Eknath Shinde. “Our feeling is that the Sena rebels have played into the hands of BJP, which will not benefit them politically in the long run. Uddhav will bounce back in Maharashtra politics and the rebels would face tough time,” commented the Congress leader. The leader added that there has been resentment among a section of the legislators of the ruling coalition as chief minister Uddhav Thackeray was not ‘accessible’ easily. Congress insiders maintained that the party is ready to sit in the opposition. “In the last assembly polls, Congress did not have the mandate to form the government. Congress became a part of the coalition as Sena did not want to form the government with BJP. If the MVA government falls, Congress will sit in the opposition. We are mentally prepared for it,” added a Congress minister.
